HOW IT ALL STARTED
Luq’s fascination for trucks began at the age of 5, when he would look out of the car window and see the trucks in action. He was particularly drawn to the Swedish truck brand Scania, for its distinct appearance, and has been a die hard fan ever since. Luq also discovered his artistic talent early on, and drew his first truck at the age of 5 - a Scania of course!
A BIG VISION
His love for the Swedish truck brand introduced him to the crazy world of European truckstyling, where drivers and owners take immense pride in the appearance of their trucks. Luq’s appreciation for the craftsmanship involved inspired him to enter the world of truck customising and design early on. From an early age, he was already tinkering with the appearance of Scania trucks through his artistic abilities and manipulation skills.
THE ROAD TO NOWHERE
With a dream to enter the world of truck customisation and design, Luq set sights on a Heavy Automotive Engineering apprenticeship straight after high school hoping it would be the foundation to start his dream. But what was meant to be a three year programme turned out to be three years of repeated rejections from local workshops, and limited help from polytechnics that offered no suitable options. It became apparent that nobody in New Zealand could or wanted to offer any opportunities.
LUQ TURNER DESIGNS IS BORN!
Realising that New Zealand had nothing that aligned with his vision, Luq started Luq Turner Designs utilising his artistic skills to kickstart his dream instead. Specialising in ideation, illustration, and graphics, Luq helps clients bring ideas to life before a single bolt is turned. His detailed and lifelike visualisations allows his clients to clearly see their visions.
